Wayne Boiteau Sr.

February 19, 1941 — April 16, 2014

STURBRIDGE: Wayne Boiteau Sr., 73, of Snell Street died Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at home surrounded by family.  He leaves his wife, Barbara Ann (Peet) Boiteau whom he married April 29, 1989; two sons: Wayne Alan Boiteau Jr. and his wife Deborah (Bennett) Boiteau of Southbridge and Marc Alan Boiteau of Southbridge; one daughter: Cheryl St.Pierre and her husband, Paul of Southbridge; a niece, who he raised as a daughter, Valerie ( Desourdy) Giguere and her husband Peter of Winter Springs FL; a brother, Richard Boiteau and his wife Ruth of Hartsville, South Carolina; 9 grandchildren: Monique St.Pierre, Marc St.Pierre & his wife Danielle, Gabrielle, Nicolas, Benjamin Boiteau, Jakob Boiteau, Nathan Boiteau, Callie Boiteau, Phoebe Boiteau. Several Nieces and Nephews including Nancy Kittridge and her son Conor who resided in his home, Mother-in-law --  Sandra Peet of St.Petersburg, FL, sister-in-law Sherry and brother-in-law Glenn Johnson of Brimfield MA, sister-in-law Terri and brother-in-law David Barnes of St.Petersburg, FL, sister-in-law Anita Waite of Florence, MA, brother-in-law Ray Thomas of East Hampton, MA, his ex wife Janice (Desourdy) Boiteau of Southbridge and former daughter-in -law Jennifer (Savage)Boiteau of Holland. He was predeceased by a daughter Barbra Ann Boiteau.   He was born in St.Petersburg, Florida and lived in the Southbridge/Sturbridge area for many years.  He graduated from Cole Trade High School in Southbridge.  He proudly served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.  He was a member of the American Legion Post #109.  He retired in 1998 from the Sturbridge Police Department as a canine officer after 21 years of service.  His bloodhound, Catou, served alongside him.  He previously worked as a truck driver for the American Optical Company in Southbridge.  He belonged to several bowling teams; several cribbage leagues, and golfed at Hemlock Ridge. He enjoyed camping  The family would like to thank VNA Care Network & Hospice Care and the Association of the Sturbridge Police and Fire departments.  His funeral will be held at 9:00 AM Tuesday, April 22, from the Belanger Bullard Funeral Home, 51 Marcy Street, Southbridge where a procession will form and proceed to Notre Dame Church, 446 Main Street, Southbridge, MA and a Mass will follow at 10:00 AM in the church. Committal prayers and a military service will follow at North Cemetery in Sturbridge. Calling hours in the funeral home are 2:00PM to 4:00PM and 6:00PM to 8:00PM on Monday April 21, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to   VNA Care Network & Hospice 120 Thomas St. Worcester, 01063 or the Sturbridge Police Association 346 Main Street, Sturbridge, MA 01566
