Ruth Peloquin

February 19, 1917 — March 11, 2013

STURBRIDGE: Ruth L. (Hewitt) Peloquin, 96, formerly of Sturbridge, died Monday, March 11 in Maine after an illness. Her husband Raymond C. Peloquin predeceased her in 2004.

She leaves her son Bruce and his wife Jean Peloquin of West Brookfield; a daughter Donna Kuhn of Naples, Maine; a brother Roland Hewitt of Sturbridge; 2 grandchildren, Cory Golebiowski and Trevor Peloquin. She was predeceased by a brother Clyde Hewitt, and a sister Doris Sheldon.

She was born in Sturbridge, the daughter of Charles and Ethel (Webster) Hewitt, and lived in the area most of her life before moving to Maine. She graduated from Hitchcock Academy and was the last surviving student from the Class of 1934.

She worked at The Harvey-Wells Company, Egree International, The American Optical, and Sturbridge Yankee Workshop, where she retired from after 21 years of service.

Ruth enjoyed reading, knitting, fine chocolates and talking on the phone.

A private graveside service was held in North Cemetery, Sturbridge.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, 180 US Rte One, #1, Scarborough, ME 04074, or to the Sturbridge Federated Church, 8 Maple Street, Sturbridge, MA 01566.

Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home, 51 Marcy Street, Southbridge is directing the arrangements.
