SOUTHBRIDGE: Norbert (Cubby) Benoit Jr., 84, of 133 Morris Street died Friday September 25 in his home after an illness surrounded by family.
Norbert leaves his son, Randall (Randy) of Southbridge; his daughter Lynn O’Toole of Southbridge and her husband James, his sister Louise Freeland of Webster. Two grandsons: Benjamin and Ryan; two great-grandchildren: Jonah and Sophie. Brother in laws Danny, his wife Loretta , Dicky and Lowell. “Uncle Cubby" also leaves his nieces and nephews, whom adored him: Brenda, Diane, Barbara, Ricky, Marty, Jaymi, Butchy, Lori, Sharon, Billy, Jimmy, Pammy, Trudy, Scotty, Debbie, Donald (DJ), Rhonda, David and Danny And last but not least his cat, Mr. Peanuts
Norbert was predeceased by his wife, Patricia (Clark Benoit) in 2013, his sister Judy Moyer, his nephew, Bobby and his in-laws, Billy and Nancy.
Norbert was born in Southbridge, the son of Norbert and Doris (Angel) Benoit.
He worked for many years at Pratt Whitney and was a part of the team that kept "the Eagles flying.” He proudly served in the United States Army where he was a member of the 14th Armored Calvary. He served during the Korean War stationed in Germany, receiving the good conduct medal. Norbert enjoyed vacationing in Ogunquit, Maine-walking the Marginal Way with his son Randy; he enjoyed playing a good game of cribbage, watching the Red Sox, college football and was an avid fan of boxing. Norbert was a gentleman known for his humor and devotion to his family. He will be deeply missed.
Calling hours will be held from 9:00-10:30 A.M. on Saturday, October 3, 2015 in the Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home, 51 Marcy Street, Southbridge, MA. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. in Notre Dame Church, 446 Main Street, Southbridge followed by Military Honors. Burial will Thursday October 8th at 2:00pm in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Southbridge MA.
