SOUTHBRIDGE – Monique Maher-Lefebvre, 74, of Worcester Street, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 14, following an illness.
Born in Antwerp, Belgium, she was the daughter of John Timmerman and Mary Nadeau. Monique was a graduate of Stamford High School and continued her education attending Norwalk Community College. She enjoyed a distinguished 25-year career as the Executive Secretary to the Vice President at Babcock Power in Worcester.
Beyond her professional achievements, Monique was deeply committed to public service, notably serving on the Southbridge Town Council. Within her community, she was affectionately known as the "Cartoon Lady" for the beautifully hand-drawn envelopes she created. Bringing joy to others through her artwork gave her immense pleasure and a sense of purpose during her golden years. Monique was a vibrant spirit who loved making people smile with her natural kindness and her signature "inappropriate" jokes.
Despite her many contributions to her community, she often remarked that her greatest accomplishments were being a mother and being married to the absolute love of her life.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Nicole Simons (Maher), and her Husband, Lukas, of Southbridge; and her cherished grandchildren, Blake and Jaxon Simons. She also leaves behind her stepmother, Helen Timmerman, and half-brother, Jason Timmerman, both of Stamford, CT; her stepdaughter, Tanya Fiske of Yorba Linda, CA; and her sister-in-law, Louise Gard of Charlton. Her nieces, Susan Tittle and Anne Trembley, and her nephew, Robert Gard, were held in the highest regard and stayed forever in her heart. Monique was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Victor Lefebvre, who passed away on July 12, 2023.
Funeral services will be held privately.
