Mathew Mageau

SOUTHBRIDGE: Mathew James Mageau, 78, Passed away on April 19,2021 at Harrington Memorial Hospital. Mathew leaves behind his wife Gail (Hunt) Mageau of Southbridge; 3 sons Scott Mageau of Southbridge, Mathew Mageau, Jr. of South Carolina, Alex Mageau of Southbridge; daughter Bridgette Christian of Montana; stepdaughter Deeanna Hunt of Southbridge; brother Romeo Mageau of Southbridge; and his 5 grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces. Mathew was born in Southbridge son of the late Romeo and Alice (McLean) Mageau. He was predeceased by his 2 sons Joseph Mageau, and Jason Mageau, and 2 brothers Brian Magaeu and Wilbert Sheran, Sr. Mathew was a veteran of the Marine Corps, and served in the National Guard, and the Army reserves. He is a life member and past commander of VFW post 6055. He also took part in the VFW drill team with his wife Gail and his son Scott. Mathew worked for 31 years at American Optical as a machinist. His favorite hobbies were collecting stamps and coins, and doing yardwork. He enjoyed going to McDonalds and Dunkin’ Donuts in Southbridge to hang out with the “breakfast club”. He was an avid collector of antiques and enjoyed going to yard sales. Mathew will be greatly missed by all of his friends and family. A private service will be held at a later date.
