FISKDALE: Mary Joan Gibson, 57, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 10, after a brief and painful battle with bladder cancer. She leaves her daughter, Julie Distel, her brother, James Gibson, sister, Cathy Binley, and her granddaughter Olivia. She was born in Worcester, the daughter of the late Richard and Amelda (Burlingame) Gibson. Mary Joan graduated from Tantasqua Regional High School in 1972, and attended UMass Amherst. She was an active member of Sovereign Grace Chapel in Southbridge. Her memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 3rd, at 2:00 p.m. in Sovereign Grace Chapel, 449 Main St., Southbridge. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sovereign Grace Chapel, 449 Main St., Southbridge, MA 01550. Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home 51 Marcy St. Southbridge is directing arrangements.
