Southbridge: Maria Mercado, 48 of Southbridge, passed away on December 30, 2021, due to complications of COVID-19. She leaves behind her loving husband of 27 years, Jose Ortiz of Southbridge; her son Jose D. Ortiz, of Southbridge; her 2 daughters Raiza Rivera of Southbridge, Yosiris Ortiz of FL; her sister Marilyn Mercado of Puerto Rico, and her 4 grandchildren. Maria was born in Anasco, Puerto Rico, daughter to the late Amando Mercado, and Maria Victoria DeJesus. She was predeceased by her sister Iris Mercado. Maria owned Kathy Treasures Thrift Store in Southbridge for 3 years with her husband Jose. Jose along with Maria are the pastors of Iglesia Voz De Dios Church in Southbridge. She enjoyed playing animal crossing, spoiling her grandchildren and took pride in keeping her home clean. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday January 4th from 6-8PM in the Belanger Bullard Funeral Home, 51 Marcy St. Southbridge. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday January 5th from 10-11AMat the Belanger Bullard Funeral Home, 51 Marcy St, Southbridge. Followed by a burial at Oak Ridge Cemetery, 111 Main St. Southbridge. Family request that all those who will be attending services for Maria please wear a mask. Belanger Bullard Funeral Home is directing arrangements.
