SOUTHBRIDGE: Mrs. Linda E. (Hunt) Stenquist, 80, formerly of Charlton, peacefully passed away at home on June 4, 2026, surrounded by her loving children.

Linda is survived by her husband, Joel Stenquist of Southbridge; her three children, Erik Stenquist and Amy Stenquist of Southbridge, and Erica Stenquist and her partner Ross of Chicopee. She is also survived by her sister, Beverly (Hunt) Bergin of Charlton; her brother, John Hunt, and his wife Nancy of Spencer; and her brother-in-law, Arthur Wellwood of Southbridge. Many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews also cherish her memory.

She was predeceased by her parents, Alva and Evelyn (Carey) Hunt; her brother Alva Hunt and his wife Ellen; and her brothers-in-law David Dam and Paul Bergin.

Born on November 12, 1945, at the former Lincoln Hospital in Worcester, Linda was the youngest child of Alva and Evelyn Hunt. She grew up in Charlton and graduated from the former Charlton High School in 1963. Throughout her youth, Linda was very active participating as a Girl Scout, cheerleader, actress in school plays, church choir singer, and youth fellowship member. Her lifelong dedication to her church was profound, marked by fond memories of church music camps, and her roles as a Sunday school teacher and youth leader. She left a lasting impression on all who knew her through her proud and heartfelt expression of faith.

Linda’s career included varied roles, from babysitting and working at the American Optical Company to serving as a packing supervisor at Hebert Candies, where she was dearly regarded by her coworkers. Above all, her greatest joy and devotion was motherhood to her three beloved children.

She cherished the ocean, enjoying watching boats and going on boat rides. Camping was another passion, with treasured memories made at Emerald Acres campground in Jaffrey, New Hampshire, where she forged many friendships. Linda loved car rides and treasured family gatherings, especially during holidays, her favorite being Christmas. She was fond of playing 500 Rummy, enjoyed chocolate, baking, and was known for preparing delicious salads for various occasions. Her love for milkshakes and ice cream was well-known, with coffee as her preferred flavor. Gifted with a beautiful singing voice, Linda was affectionately called the family songbird, delighting in oldies that reminded her of her teenage years and beloved hymns.

Linda’s warmth, faith, and love will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew her.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the dedicated team at Gentiva Hospice for their compassionate care during Linda’s final weeks.
