Leon Caouette

July 30, 1944 — March 10, 2021

SOUTHBRIDGE: Leon G. Caouette, 76, of Southbridge, MA passed away peacefully surrounded by family at UMass Medical Center from complications of pancreatic cancer. Leon leaves behind his loving wife and best friend of over 53 years, Cheryl (Pinel) Caouette; 4 children Cherie (Pinel) Biron and her husband Allen of Sturbridge, Daryl Caouette of Southbridge, Lyle Caouette and his wife Heather of Auburn and Shara Caouette of Southbridge. He also leaves 7 grandchildren, Amber (Biron) Thomas and husband Jason, Chad Biron and wife Jennifer, Taylor Biron, Trevor Daoust, Ryan Caouette, Andrew Caouette and Elijah Caouette along with 6 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his father Armand E. Caouette, his mother Rita (Letourneau) Papineau and step-father Alfred Papineau He was a graduate of Southbridge High School and worked at Pratty & Whitney Aircraft for over 37 years. He was highly involved in Boy Scouts where he was the Cub Master for Pack #160, as well as, a leader for Troop #160. After retiring from Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, he devoted a lot of his time to Notre Dame Church in Southbridge. For many years, he was highly involved in the yearly Fall Festivals and took pride in managing the memorial and devotional candles for the parish. Leon enjoyed fishing and camping with his wife and children, where they would frequent Oak Haven Campground in Wales, MA and Tidewater Campground in Hampton Beach, NH. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, watching his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events and visiting with his great-grandchildren. His favorite pastime has been travelling with his wife, Cheryl, annually to Aruba for over 20 years, as well as cruising to various destinations with friends. Leon will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him. A Memorial Mass will be held in Notre Dame Church, 446 Main St, Southbridge on Saturday, March 20th at 1pm.
