STURBRIDGE: John Williams, 70, of Hall Road, died August 24, after a brief illness.
John is survived by his wife of 44 years, Mary Jean (Lynch) Williams, a daughter Jessie Keppler of Sturbridge, a son Joshua Williams and his partner, Alyne Butland of Fitchburg, and one granddaughter, Lily Keppler.
John was born in Groton, MA, the son of the late Leonard and Shirley (Naylon) Williams and lived in Pepperell, MA for many years. John attended North Middlesex Regional High School and graduated in 1971. He kept in touch with several of his high school buddies and was able to see them at a recent gathering.
John was a supervising manager for several manufacturing companies in Massachusetts. He enjoyed training his staff and took pride in his problem-solving skills. John also enjoyed being a teacher in many different capacities throughout his career which included work as a substitute teacher and most recently as a Paraprofessional before retiring. Relationships were important to John, making friends wherever he worked, including the local Home Depot.
A constant student eager to learn, John earned an associate degree from Mount Wachusett Community College, phlebotomy certification, attended the local Citizens Police Academy, and ran for school committee.
John loved music, attended many concerts, was a “roadie” for his friend’s band and had an extensive collection of vinyl records dating back to the 1930’s which he would play while cooking dinner in his beloved air fryer.
John also enjoyed fishing, going to Patriots and Celtics games with his son, spending time with his granddaughter, cracking a joke whenever possible, watching movies, reading, but most of all, he truly enjoyed spending time with his family.
A celebration of life will be scheduled for family and friends to attend.
