John V. Caprera, 85, formerly of Park Circle, Sturbridge, died Wednesday, October 1, 2014 in Quaboag Skilled Rehab and Nursing Home.
He leaves his wife of 61 years, Rosalie (Luce) Caprera, 2 daugthers; Nancy Horanzy of Worcester and Susan Chevalier and her husband Mark of Holland, 4 grandchildren; Kimberly, Amy, David and Thomas and several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by 4 brothers; Robert Caprera, George Caprera, Anthony Caprera and Joseph Caprera and a sister, Matilda Sheridan.
John was born in Southbridge the son of Joseph and Josephine (Tedeschi) Caprera and lived in the area all of his life. He attended Cole Trade High School and served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a sheet metal worker in the Worcester area and retired from Consolidated Fabricators. He was a member of Charlton City United Methodist Church, an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the Hamilton Rod and Gun Club. He also enjoyed golfing and was a member of a local bowling league.
His funeral will be held at 10:00am Saturday, October 4, 2014 in the Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home, 51 Marcy Street, Southbridge, MA. Burial will follow in West Ridge Cemetery, Charlton, MA. Calling hours are Friday, October 3, 2014 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm in the funeral home.
