Ã¢â?¬â?¹Sturbridge: Gilbert P. Corriveau, 70, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2014 at Harrington Memorial Hospital after being stricken ill at home. He leaves his life partner of 48 years Benjamin Perez; his mother Dorothy (Bremer) Corriveau of Southbridge; a brother Robert Corriveau and his companion Evelyn Grimmel, of West Paris, Maine; 2 sisters Jo-Ann Rafail and her husband Robert of
Southbridge, Sandra Partlow and her companion John Balderelli of Sturbridge; a nephew Eugene Corriveau; a niece Carlene Logan; 2 grand nephews Dale Corriveau and Andrew Logan.
He was born in Southbridge son of the late Raymond Corriveau and lived in the
area most of his life.
Gil graduated from Tantasqua High school class of 1962 and Broms Hairdressing
Academy in 1968. He served in the US Air Force and was stationed in Anchorage Alaska during the Cuban missile crisis.
Gil and Ben owned and operated the Hairport Hair Salon in Sturbridge for the
past 38 years. He was still working at the time of his death. Gil's other
passion was dealing in antiques. He specialized in Victorian glass and china
for the period from 1875 through 1920. He was recognized in several books for his expertise and knowledge in that field. He had a booth at the Sturbridge Antique Center and for 46 years and had booths at the Brimfield Antique Shows.
Calling hours are 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM Friday December 19 at the Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home, 51 Marcy St., Southbridge. A service will take place at 6:00 PM.
