GARY P. BABINEAU

Gary P. Babineau, 67, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 17, 2023, surrounded by his family.  He is survived by his daughter LeeAnna Healey and her husband Daniel; his grandchildren: Jaylin, R.J., Adelyn and Brooke; his longtime partner Suzy Allen; the mother of his children Gina Babineau; his brother Steven Babineau and his wife Andrea; his sisters: Donna Kimball and Regina Caron; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  His son Philip G. Babineau predeceased him in 2022.

Gary was born in Springfield the son of the late Philip M. and Rita A. (Belanger) Babineau.  They moved to Holland, MA where he grew up playing ice hockey on Hamilton Reservoir and graduated Tantasqua Regional High School in 1973.  Gary worked as a carpenter for Local Union 336 until his retirement in 2015 and he was a master in his trade.  He built a beautiful workshop in 2019 and never stopped creating, renewing and completing projects for his family and friends. 

He was a lifelong NY Giants fan and a season ticket holder.  Gary and his friends could always be found tailgating in lot L9 for all the home games at MetLife Stadium.  He and Suzie would spend time down at the Jersey Shore, visiting Atlantic City and the boardwalk but most of all he loved spending time with friends, family, including grandchildren, through them his legacy will live on.

All are invited to his funeral Mass on Friday, September 22, 2023, at 11am at St. Christopher Parish, 16 Sturbridge Road, Brimfield, MA 01010 followed by burial in Holland Cemetery.  His calling hours are Thursday, September 21, 2023, from 5-7pm at Belanger Funeral Home, 51 Marcy Street, Southbridge, MA 01550.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Gary’s memory may be made to: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or www.stjude.org
