STURBRIDGE/CHARLTON: Gail Ellen Chandler (Perkins), born September 26th, 1959, fell asleep on September 10th, 2022. She was surrounded by her family and friends who had gathered to embrace her in her final days.
Gail was an indescribable woman a force that will survive in the imprint she left on everyone who knew her. Her laughter and joy will echo with us because though she suffered trauma in her life she will be fondly remembered for the warmth and generosity she displayed.
Gail was a collector of many things, foremost among were the people that she knew, people that she loved and cared for; and like all the trinkets and antiques she collected, each one of us is worthy of love.
Gail will be profoundly missed by her loving husband of 35 years, Chic Chandler. Together they built a successful business, Diversified Sign, an endeavor that allowed them to pursue their greater passions such as painting pumpkins, collecting art & jewelry, and dirt track racing, where they competed from Canada to Daytona. More recently Gail enjoyed spending time in her home on Podunk, and cruising Narragansett Bay with her husband.
She was a beautiful artist, and she had a very talented hand, a skill that was evident both commercially and personally. She proudly worked on many logos and signs that can be seen across New England and New York, and she left behind many drawings and pieces of art that will be treasured for years to come.
She will also be deeply grieved for by her children: Heather Smith-Svoboda and Matthew Smith, as well as her brother Christopher Perkins and other siblings, stepchildren, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, her dog Tag and all the dear friends she collected from everywhere she traveled.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday September 24th, 2022, from 1pm-4pm, at Finn’s Harborside, 38 Water Street, East Greenwich, RI 02818. All who knew and loved her are welcome to join.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her name to the Rhode Island School of Design. Rhode Island School of Design · GiveCampus
