Evelyn Rupert

SOUTHBRIDGE: Evelyn L. (O’Donnell) Rupert, 83, of Goddard Street died Monday, September 28^th after an illness. Her husband Henry Rupert died in 1986.

Evelyn leaves her four sons: Dan and his fiancée Betty Perrin of Southbridge, Rafferty and his wife Alison of Leominster, Calvin and his wife Mary-Lou of Charlton and Chester Rupert; four daughters: Susanne Roso and her husband Bill of Southbridge, Tonya Burlingame and her husband Roy of Charlton, Genevieve Grant of Sturbridge and Rosemary Billingsley of Florida, twenty grandchildren and several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.  In addition to her family she leaves her longtime companion, Bruce Grant.

She was predeceased by her brother, Thomas O’Donnell along with her grandson Patrick Grant and two great grandchildren, Magdalena and William. 

She was born on July 11, 1932 in Petersborough, NH, the daughter of Thomas and Esther (Abbott) O’Donnell.  She moved to Massachusetts in 1945.

Evelyn graduated from Mary E. Wells High School in 1950 and received her Business Major from Bryant College where she graduated Magnum Cum Laude. After college she taught at Salter School and Charlton Elementary School. Evelyn retired from the J.I. Morris Company where she worked in the billing department for 25 years.

She was a member of the Charlton Grange and Daughters of Rebekha Benevolent Society for 65 years.  Evelyn and her husband were also members of the Hayloft Steppers.

Evelyn enjoyed long conversations on the phone, crossword puzzles, mystery shows and Court T.V.   Her goal was to write a book about her life.  Most importantly, Evelyn loved her family and looked forward to their visits. 

Her funeral will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, Oct 5, in the First United Methodist Church, 449 Main St. Southbridge. Burial will follow at Northside Cemetery, Charlton.

Calling hours are 4:00 to 6:00 PM Sunday Oct. 4 in the Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home, 51 Marcy St. Southbridge.
