Ervin Chester

March 18, 1920 — October 20, 2009

STURBRIDGE – Ervin E. Chester, 89, of Heritage Green, died, Sunday, October 25, at Harrington Memorial Hospital, after an illness.  His wife of 55 years, Ruth E. (Sutton) Chester, died in October 2008.  He leaves three granddaughters, Heidi Epstein, of Jupiter, FL, Cheryl Spalding, of Kalamazoo, MI, and Tanya Webb, of Everett; a son-in-law, William Webb, of Florida, and 13 great-grandchildren. 

 

He was born in Milwaukee, WI, the son of the late Alen and Martha (Duckert) Chester, and grew up in the Midwest.  He served in the United States Army and Air Force during WWII.  He flew in many campaigns throughout Europe, including the battle at Normandy.  He earned a Silver Service Star and a Bronze Service Star for his service.

 

A service will be held at 10:00am, Friday, October 30, 2009 at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam, MA.  The Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home, 51 Marcy St., Southbridge, is directing arrangements.  An online guestbook is available at www.BelangerFuneralHome.com
