Ella Szlosek

SOUTHBRIDGE – Ella L. (Hartig) Szlosek, 89, of Ashland Ave., died Saturday, February 19, in Harrington Healthcare at the Hubbard Campus.  Her husband of 60 years, Peter V. Szlosek, died on Oct. 26, 2006.  She leaves 2 sons, Peter V. Szlosek, Jr., of Southbridge, and Gustav Szlosek, and his wife, Erica, of California; 2 granddaughters, Holly Szlosek and Lauren Szlosek, both of California; 2 brothers, Herman Szlosek, of Billings, Montana, and Paul Szlosek, of Taylorville, IL, and a sister, Pauline Szlosek, of Sturbridge.

She was born in Dortmund, West phalia, Germany, the daughter of the late Herman and Martha (Hahn) Hartig, and immigrated to the United States as a child.  She attended the Illinois State Normal College.  She was self-employed and co-owned and operated Cedar Post Manufacturing for 25 years.

Mrs. Szlosek enjoyed reading, gardening, and was a member of the Elm Street Congregational Church.

Her funeral will be held at 10AM, Thursday, February 24, in the Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home, 51 Marcy St., Southbridge.  A calling hour will be held from 9AM – 10AM, prior to services, in the funeral home.  Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
