Eyla Gonzalez

SOUTHBRIDGE: Eyla Gonzalez 83, of 12 Crane St. died Friday, January 20^th at Harrington Hospital after a battle with Covid.

She leaves her son Samuel Gonzalez Jr. of Southbridge, her daughter Carmen Colon, and her husband Eddie of Southbridge, her grandchildren Nathan and His wife Cherise Ludwell, Emil Mayer Colon, Nicolas Gonzalez, 6 great grandchildren Carissa, Alecks, Lillyanna, Xavior, Hayden and Nathan. Eyla was predeceased by her sister Anita and brother Ferando.

Elya was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, the daughter of the late Fernando Lopez De Victoria and Sofia Matos.

Eyla graduated from San Juan High School and went on to study cosmetology and hairdressing.

She was a successful licensed hairdresser and had her own shop in Puerto Rico. After moving to Southbridge she worked and retired from the American Optical Company and continued to do hairstyling.  

She loved to cook, sew, play bingo and enjoyed spending time with her family.

Calling hours are 4 to 6PM, Wednesday, Jan. 25th, in the Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home, 51 Marcy St. Southbridge. A funeral service will take place at 6PM following the calling hours.
