Doris Rankin

UXBRIDGE/SOUTHBRIDGE  Doris (Merchant) Rankin, of 51 Marcy St. Southbridge formerly of Hewett St. Uxbridge died, Wednesday, March 31^st at Harrington Memorial Hospital in Southbridge. Her husband Donald S. Rankin died in 1987. She leaves her daughter and son-in-law Deirtra \"Dee\" and Bill Belanger of Southbridge and several cousins and her good friend Peg Barron of Uxbridge.  

She was born in Uxbridge the daughter of Joseph and Flonanna (Pinsonealt) Merchant, lived in Uxbridge and moved to Southbridge 7 years ago.

She graduated from Uxbridge High School and took culinary arts courses at CCRI.  

She was the cafeteria manager at the Whitin School in Uxbridge and retired in 1985 after 20 years of service. She and her husband spent many entire summers at Hampton Beach, NH, and also belonged to Bonnet Shores Beach Club in RI. Doris enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas and the local casinos, as well as Disney World, Pennsylvania Dutch Country and enjoyed day trips.

Her funeral will be held at 11:00AM, Tuesday, April 6, in the Buma Funeral Home 91 North Main St. Uxbridge. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in Whithisville. A calling hour will be held from 10:00AM to 11:00AM prior to the service.
