Dionisio Rivera

SOUTHBRIDGE: Dionisio Rivera, 70, of Southbridge passed away on January 20, 2022, at Harrington Hospital.

He leaves his wife of 32 years, Ruth M. Oquendo- Rivera of southbridge; his three sons Danny Rivera of NJ, Ricardo Rivera of NJ, Alexander Rivera of SC; his three daughters Yahaira M. Rivera and her husband Francisco Montero of Southbridge, Alexandra Rivera and her husband Jay Alves of Southbridge, Krystal Rivera and her husband Josue Vargas of Fall River, RI; two brothers Demetrio Rivera of FL, Luis Rivera of FL; his four sisters Francisca Rivera of FL, Julie Rivera of NJ, Inocencia Delgado of Southbridge, Carmin Rivera of NJ, and Esther Rivera of Puerto Rico; nine grandchildren; two great- grandchildren and several nieces and nephews; and his best friend Adrian Suarez.  

Dionisio was born in Vega Alta, Puerto Rico son to the late Angel Rivera and Lydia (García) Rivera. He was predeceased by his brother Harry Rivera of Southbridge.

Dionisio worked in Puerto Rico as a security guard, he came to the United States and lived in New Jersey. He worked in the New Jersey school as a maintenance worker. He and his family moved to Massachusetts where he worked for Classic Envelope Co. in Whitinsville. He later went to work for Ethan Allen as a fabric assembly worker.

Dionisio would volunteer his time to the elders in the community delivering meals on wheels. He enjoyed fishing, playing dominos, gardening and taking care of his houseplants. He parishioner at the House of Destiny Church in Southbridge.

He spent his time with his mechanic friends at their garages. Dionisio would have family and friends come over for cookouts. He enjoyed cooking for everyone and being with all of his family and friends.

His Funeral will be held on will be held on Saturday February 5^th at 11AM, at the House of Destiny Church, 104 Everett St. Southbridge. Burial will follow in Oakridge Cemetery, Oakridge Ave., Southbridge.
