SOUTHBRIDGE: Diane Frances (Davis) Meunier, 77, of Southbridge, MA, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Life Care Center of Auburn, due to treatment side effects after overcoming cancer.

Diane was the beloved wife of Robert L. Meunier, to whom she was married for 56 years. She is survived by their three daughters: Michelle and her husband David Backus of Sterling, MA; Nicole and her husband Thomas Grimes of Ellington, CT; and Danielle and her husband Claude Philibert of Holland, MA. Diane also leaves behind two sisters: Deborah Dumas, and her husband Robert, of Monson, MA; and Lauren Davis of Douglas, MA; a brother Jonathan Davis, of Isleton, CA ; four cherished grandchildren: Silas and Miller Backus, and Hannah and Michael Grimes; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister Cynthia Garvey, and a brother Terence Davis.

Born in Stafford, CT on November 25, 1948, Diane was the daughter of the late Lawrence D. and Betty F. (Kuehl) Davis. She graduated from Monson High School in 1966 and from Holyoke Community College in 1968. While raising her three children, Diane worked from home providing administrative support for a local business. Later, she worked as a child care provider. Beginning in 2002, Diane went to work for the Auburn Public School system as the Administrative Assistant to the Principal at Mary D. Stone School and later Pakachoag School, before retiring in 2024.

Diane cherished time with family, especially her grandchildren. Diane’s hands were constantly busy. She greatly enjoyed cooking for family gatherings, and spending summer days by the pool. Diane took pride in planting and nurturing vegetable and flower gardens each summer. She was an avid sewer and crafter. She was rarely without knitting needles and a ball of yarn. She was talented; spending endless hours creating custom children’s Irish knit sweaters, as a hobby and for local retailers.

Diane was a dedicated member of the Sturbridge Lions Club for 48 years. During her tenure, she received many honors for her unselfish service to the club, District 33-A, the Multiple District 33, and her community. Her unwavering commitment to the causes of Lionism to help those with sight and hearing afflictions is unmeasurable. Some of her greatest achievements include: Lions Clubs International Melvin Jones Fellow & Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow; District 33-A Sight & Hearing Fund Joseph J. Camarda Fellow, Progressive Fellow & Progressive Gold Fellow Awards; Sturbridge Lions Club Lion of the Year; Lions Clubs International Life Membership status; Former Director for Massachusetts Lions Eye Research Fund; Massachusetts Lions Eye Research Fund Sight Award Recipient; Former President, Office Member and Director of the District 33-A Lions Sight & Hearing Fund; Former President, Office Member and Director of the Sturbridge Lions and Sturbridge Lioness Clubs; District 33-A Lioness of the Year; District 33-A Lion of the Year; Massachusetts Multiple District 33 Lioness of the Year; Massachusetts Multiple District 33 Lion of the Year; Former District 33-A Lions Cabinet Secretary Treasurer for District Governor Helene Doucette; Former Massachusetts Multiple District 33 Lions State Convention Chairperson; Served as Chairperson for both the District 33-A and Massachusetts Multiple District 33 Youth Speech Competition Program; Recipient of the Prestigious Lions Clubs International Leadership Award in 2005; Recipient of the Prestigious Lions Clubs International Presidents Award in 2024; and served as Reservations Chairperson and Treasurer for the District 33-A Lions Mid-Winter Conference for several years.

Diane’s family extends their gratitude to Life Care Center of Auburn, UMass Memorial Medical Center–University Campus, as well as New England Hospice.

Her Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, April 17th at 10:00 am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 10 H. Putnam Road Extension, Charlton, MA with burial to follow at New Notre Dame Cemetery on North Woodstock Road, Southbridge, MA. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, April 16th from 5 pm to 8 pm at Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home, 51 Marcy Street, Southbridge, MA.
