BRISTOL - Dawn Marie Poisson, 63, of Windward Lane, Bristol, Rhode Island, passed away on June 19, 2025, at Harrington Memorial Hospital after being stricken ill.
Dawn is survived by her loving husband of 19 years, Michael Poisson, and her two sons, Nicholas Brown of Worcester and Zack Brown of Southbridge. She is also remembered by her step-son Matthew Poisson of West Warwick, Rhode Island, and her three brothers, Anthony Mauro of Southbridge, Brian Mauro of Jackson, Georgia, and Jerry Farinella of Sturbridge and 4 special children Evelyn, Grayson, Cora and Lochlan that she cared for.
Born in Yonkers, New York, she was the daughter of the late James and Barbara (Lauro) Mauro. Dawn earned her Bachelor’s Degree in English from Clark University and dedicated over 25 years of her career as a claims adjuster for Commerce Insurance before her retirement.
Dawn's home was known as a gathering place for family and friends, where celebrations were marked by joy and an abundance of food. Her family believes she holds the record for making the most pizzelles ever. An avid fan of the Boston Red Sox, she would relish watching games, particularly enjoying a Gin and Tonic during play. She also had a fond appreciation for the music of Stevie Nicks.
In her leisure time, Dawn was especially passionate about quilting, gardening, and the ocean. She actively participated in reenactments of the French and Indian War and was a valued member of the Arboretum Committee at North Farm on the Bay, where she lived in Bristol.
Dawn Marie Poisson will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, and the love she shared with her family and community. Her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Calling hours for Dawn are 6 to 8PM, Thursday, July 3, in the Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home, 51 Marcy St. Southbridge, MA.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dawn's name to the Jimmy Fund, the Red Sox charity for children.
