SOUTHBRIDGE: It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Christina (Czyzewski) Trahan, who died peacefully on April 13, 2026, after a brief illness. She was 98 years old.

Christina was born on September 23, 1927, in Sturbridge, Massachusetts, to Stephania and Franciszek Czyzewski. She spent most of her life in the area and was known for her kindness, steady presence, and deep devotion to her family. Christina’s warm smile brought comfort to those around her and brightened even the darkest of days.

In November 1946, Christina married the love of her life, Rene P. Trahan. They shared more than 70 years together before his passing in 2018, building a life centered on family, faith, and hard work. Together they raised four children and created a home that was always welcoming. As grandparents, they were deeply devoted and enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren.

Christina graduated from Mary E. Wells High School in Southbridge. Over the years, she worked at Woolworth’s, as a telephone operator, and at Hebert’s Candies. She was always most proud, though, of her role as a mother and grandmother.

Her faith was an important part of her life, and she was a longtime member of Saint Anne–Saint Patrick Parish in Fiskdale. Her involvement as a communicant was a true testament to her spirituality.

Christina enjoyed cooking and baking for her family, playing cards and games like Mahjong and Scrabble, and spending time outdoors. Her love for animals, especially dogs, earned her the title of “dog whisperer.” She and Rene also enjoyed traveling and camping with their family over the years.

She is survived by her children, Jonathan (Mary) Trahan, Catharine Wentworth, and Renee (William) Theodoropoulos; her grandchildren, Danita (Edwin) Marcano, Kerri (Jonathan) Osimo, Matthew (Melissa) Trahan, Heather (Scott) Alicea-Bailey, Nikki (Andrew) Hicks, Nicole Theodoropoulos, Sarah (Steven) Giroux, Kristen (Tim) Kiefer, Alyssa (Kevin) Bochicchio, Cody (Kayla) Trahan, Jason Trahan and Bobby Trahan; fifteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many extended family members.

She was predeceased by her husband, Rene P. Trahan; her son, Michael Trahan; her son-in-law, Timothy Wentworth; her sisters, Stephanie Babcock, Helen Stier, Josephine George, Angela Francis “Nonny” Dadalt, and Theodora “Doris” Gurtlinger; and her brothers, Frank, Anthony, Alphonse, Ludwig, Wallace, and George Czyzewski.

Christina, or “Grandma,” will be remembered for her quiet strength, her generosity, and her deep love for her family. She will be greatly missed.
