Carleton Beane

September 18, 1952 — May 9, 2012

HOLLAND: Carleton E. Beane, 59, of Stafford Rd. went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, May 9th.

He leaves his wife of 20 years, Ann Lorraine (Reynolds) Beane, 3 daughters, Nicole Beane of Oxford, Alicia Mickley of Las Vegas, NV; Kara Gagnon and her husband Daniel of Woodstock, GA; His mother Helen Beane of Agawam; brothers, Allan \"Butch\" Beane of Springfield and Darryl Beane and his wife Darlene of Agawam; 4 granddaughters Zoe Gagnon, Ava Gagnon, Madison Brown and Genavieve Brown.

 

Carl, known as \"Rocky\", was born in Springfield, the son of  Helen (Taylor) Beane and the late Alfred Beane.

 

Carl was the Public Address Announcer for the Boston Red Sox - The “Voice of Fenway Park.” His is the lead-off voice in “The Baseball Experience” at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown, NY. He graduated from Agawam High School in 1971 and the Career Academy School of Broadcasting in 1972.

 

Carl began his career 40 years ago as a broadcaster in radio. He worked for several national media outlets covering high school, college and professional sports all over New England. He covered the 1988 summer Olympics in Korea for NBC Sports.

 

A public memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, May 16, at The Sturbridge Host and Conference Center, 366 Main St. Sturbridge. Other services will be private.

 

His family asks that contributions in his memory be made to the Holland Congregational Church Building Fund (11 Sturbridge Road, Holland, MA 01521) or the American Diabetes Association (via www.diabetes.org).

 

Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home, 51 Marcy Street, Southbridge, MA. 01550, is directing arrangements.
