Barbara Kroell

April 17, 1938 — December 23, 2021

SPENCER/CHARLTON: Barbara Ann (Ortte) Kroell, 83, of Charlton and most recently Spencer, MA, left us on December 23, 2021, in the same building she spent decades in caring for others as a Registered Nurse. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph in 2015. Born in New Jersey on April 17, 1938, to James and Barbara (Reith) Ortte. Barbara spent many years, beside her husband, gardening and farming, known by many as Happy Joe and Happy Barbara. She was also an avid crafter, doing everything from ceramics, to tole painting, to quilting and sewing. Her children and grandchildren are grateful for these efforts as they have many reminders of her talents and love in their homes. Barbara leaves four children, Barbara Gallo and her husband Joseph of Longmeadow, Patricia Wojciak of Spencer, Joseph Kroell and his longtime partner Deborah St. George of Putnam, Ct, and James Kroell and his wife Lisa of Monson. She leaves seven grandchildren (and their spouses/S.O.’s), Waylon (Kristin), Alexandria (Randy), Michael (Alison), Joseph, John (Shawnteil), and Krystal (Nicole). She was predeceased by two grandchildren, Stavri and Christopher. Barbara additionally leaves 4 great grandchildren, Gizelle, Ellis, Wylie and Jesse. She also leaves her long-time companion, Candy (aka Frosty) the Cat. Your life is made up of two dates and a dash. She made the best of her dash. Services will be private at request of the family.
